Jewelry Care

Jewelry Care Instructions

In order to take care of your jewelry and extend its life-span, we suggest:

  • Remove jewelry when showering or bathing. This is particularly important when in salt and in chlorinated water.
  • Avoid wearing jewelry when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise.
  • Avoid exposure of jewelry to household cleaning products, especially bleach and highly reactive solutions.
  • Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray etc. on gemstones or pearls as it could jeopardize the integrity of the material, causing it to lose its lustre.
  • A good rule of thumb is that your jewelry should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
All metals, especially sterling silver, will tarnish with exposure to air.  This is a natural process.  Some metals, like copper, look better once they age and achieve a lustrous patina.  However, if you wish to prolong the clean and shiny state of sterling silver etc. you can store your pieces in a simple plastic bag - like a sandwich bag, sealed and expelled of excess air.  Otherwise, store your pieces as your space allows and simply polish with a soft lint free cloth once in a while.  If your pieces get very tarnished then by all means use a commercial cleaner, but make sure you use the correct cleaner for the correct metal and try not to get it on your gemstones.

Because the gemstones you purchased can be damaged by rough use, it is recommended that care is taken so that the life and the quality of the stones be maintained. Proper care, storing and cleaning will prolong their life and beauty. Most semi precious gemstones do not need any type of cleaning other than the above mentioned cloth.
